Hosted by Dennis and Jeff at Plain Parts – James Brothers Airport Ranch (June 30, 2012)

by Loren U.

GGF member Dennis James owns and manages Plain Parts. Dennis and Jeff Freitas hosted Golden Gate Flyers and Unusual Attitudes members at their ranch on Saturday June 30th. Dennis and Jeff’s team arranged for fabulous weather, and put together a great barbeque for about 40 guests from GGF and UA. It was a great afternoon of friends and fun, and an educational tour of the salvaged aircraft and vehicles at Plain Parts, where Dennis shared many lessons learned from results of flying incidents. James Brothers Airport is a grass landing strip on the ranch, where many club members landed for the festivities. The airport and the event offered a great opportunity for short and soft field landing and takeoff skills. In addition to seeing Dennis’ retrieved and salvaged inventory; it was just as great to see the planes the club members flew in and out! There was a great array of planes that flew in. One group of 3 from LA (UA members) landed at Marysville and took the “Jeff Shuttle” guided tour to the ranch. Seriously; those city slickers’ Cirrus could not land on the grass runway due to specs of the prop and faring clearance.… (A likely story don’t ya think?). The real men landed at the James brother’s strip with a Cessna 170 & Cessna 180 tail draggers… made for the barnstormer days of grass runways and fields! The fleet also included a Cardinal RG, P210, 172, and 182.

It was definitely a great show day for Cessna.
